Salsa in Denver is now on Facebook. Just search for Salsa in Denver in the Facebook search window and become a Fan. I am adding pictures on Facebook for all the salsa venues in town to get things rolling. I'll use FB to annouce the weekly updates to this website and to cover things that come up at any time (like the Victor Manuelle concert being canceled).

(Published 2-8-10)
I have updated the Salsa Articles page to include a new venue review of the Highland House. I also added a section at the bottom of the page that listes venues that have canceled a weekly salsa venue. I added this to try and clear any confusion about if a venue is still doing salsa rather than just delete it from this website.

Free Rueda and Practice Night
There is a local Instructor and small group of Rueda enthusiasts who are looking to find more people who are interested in learning Rueda. Here is the information....
"FREE Rueda class and practice group in Southeast Metro Denver Thursday nights from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.  Rueda is a spicy form of salsa which originated in Cuba and spread to the United States through the south Florida nightclub scene. Rueda is done by couples dancing in a circle (Rueda means wheel). One person (the caller) calls the moves and then all the couples perform the moves simultaneously.  The basic requirements are that members must be able to dance on beat, and if you are dancing lead (men or women can dance lead), you have to attend practice consistently in order to learn and retain the calls. The class is located 5 minutes away from the intersection of I-225 and Parker Ave.  For additional information call Pat Kirby, class leader and coordinator, at 303-699-8808.  NOTICE: The only motive for doing this is to dance Rueda and to have a lot of fun!"
(Update 8-03-09) - This class is now being held at the Wednesday Salsa Social at the Turnverein. See "This Week's Events" for more details.
